It is designed so that you can squeeze the unique sonic character of German transistors into your mixes. Due to the nature of the architecture, the rich and warm sound it provides blends perfectly with any song, regardless of genre. Coffee EQ The Model A is a faithful reuse of the legendary American mixing desk EQ used in its heyday in one of the UK’s most famous recording studios. The Model B is an American-made vintage analog unit that combines passive bass EQ, active presence control, treble and a germanium-based preamp. Basically, it works as a 3-band EQ, rearranged to a -band model for usability. Coffee Pre: Tonal options for highly trained ears The Coffee Pre includes several different pre-models, giving you a wide range of tonal options. We’ve selected state-of-the-art hardware to bring you the incredible frequency/phase response and harmonic distortion of 31 preamps. They are divided into three interchangeable banks: Line, Feed and Custom. If you want to add some extra mojo, the input bank preamps have a feedback control that lets you determine the amount of signal used in the mix. Coffee Comp: Compression is the eye of the beholder The Coffee Channel Bar and Compressor modules are equipped with four dynamics processors derived from two different devices: the Vari-mu tube compressor and a completely separate transformer-coupled compressor/limiter. Modes 1, 2 and Ultra are based on a modern version of the British Vari-Mu monotube compressor from the 1960s. Its amazingly simple design uses only 3 tubes in the differential signal path. But our modern version is not an exact copy of the original device; Instead, it offers a precision circuit hobby that has been refined to work efficiently with modern production requirements and equipment. The most significant difference between the original hardware and the extension is the increase in attack control time. Mode 1 represents the default settings of the British Vari-Mu device, but Mode 2 introduces a new feature that was not part of the original hardware. This is called a “fuse” and it changes the nature of the compressor dramatically. The release time is significantly shorter, resulting in a very punitive and annoying signal.
