Ultramarine includes 5 plug-ins that recreate the truly legendary sound of studio equipment from the 1950s and 60s. These models are so rare and expensive that even modern reproduction numbers are high. Our expansion pack includes everything you need to give your productions the immortal sound of great classics thanks to the careful sampling of the original hardware. A70 mid/stereo compressor This compressor is based on probably the most iconic dynamics processor. Described in the 1950s as the “universally accepted standard for level control”, it remains one of the most highly regarded studio processors ever invented. As versatile in craft studios as they are in broadcast rooms, original machines fetch $20,000 or more on the used market. The sound of this impressive device is characterized by its short attack and long release times, which allow you to keep the transitions under control while giving the body of the song a “massage” of sound. But with only around 1,000 units built and sold, it’s increasingly difficult to find a unit in good condition. A number of clones and emulations have been created over the years – both hardware and software – to try and capture the unmistakable nature of this advanced compressor/limiter; However, no digital version could match the elegance of this amazing technology. That is, until now. We chose directly from the original hardware to create the extension. We believe the results speak for themselves. A-27 – Variable Tube Equalizer Originally built in the 1960s, the active EQ featured unique circuitry and a completely different electronic implementation compared to other classic EQs of the same era. Finding the original hardware seemed like an impossible task, but we didn’t lose hope. Finally, we tracked down all the necessary components one by one and put them together ourselves! Finally, this special equalizer exceeded even our highest expectations. Amazingly smooth sound, it’s a piece of machinery and truly unique. The Ultramarine A-27 EQ is a world apart from any other EQ we’ve tried, and we guarantee you’ll fall in love with it as much as we do. A-6 American Vintage 2-Band Passive Program Equalizer Don’t let the size fool you! This passive EQ is straight out of the early 1960s model with only 2 correction bands, a low shelf filter and a high peak type filter. The low-pass filter has a fixed cutoff frequency of 80 Hz, while the high-pass filter has peak settings between and 15 kHz. The original design had an input signal attenuation of 17dB, which meant that a passive EQ unit was almost always connected to a preamplifier or compressor to restore the lost level of the part. It is still considered by many audio professionals to be one of the most musical EQs ever created. We at Acustic Audio were lucky enough to find a unit in perfect condition and took the opportunity to test it out. Try it yourself – we’re sure you’ll agree that the results are simply amazing. Echo unit A-58 The A-58 reverb is the virtual equivalent of a high quality electromechanical reverb and one of the finest vintage reverbs ever created by the legendary American manufacturer. This gem is a true collector’s item! It uses 6 electromechanical delay lines, each configured differently to create a natural reverb that is very smooth and warm (even on percussion).
